Barking and Dagenham College

Barking & Dagenham College is a large further education college with approximately 12,500 students (of which 9000 are 19+ and 3,500 are age 16 – 18) located in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in Dagenham, East London, England. The Principal is Cathy Walsh OBE, who joined the College in September 2008. Cathy received her OBE in 2014 Queen's Birthday Honours and it was presented to her by HRH The Prince of Wales.
The college offers hundreds of courses at many levels, such as A-Levels, HNC/HND, and BTEC including a post-graduate Masters of Business Administration. Winner of 2 national awards, it is a Gazelle college, one of only 20 in the UK and home to the only regional Gazelle STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) Centre within the M25. Promoting a real work training environment, the college helps student develop employability skills via their Siemens Mechatronic Academy, Commercial hair and beauty salons, The Chef's Hat restaurants, Start-up High Street and The POD (Pitch On Demand). With almost 90% of students achieving their qualifications, Barking & Dagenham College is known for its vocational skills, emphasis on entrepreneurship and t-shaped skills. It boasts of expert tutors and high quality training, delivered through industry standard and spacious workshops.
The college trains around 860 apprentices each year (750 Intermediate and Advanced level apprentices, and 110 Higher Level apprentices), making it one of the largest providers of apprenticeship training in London. Working with a range of employer clients including Siemens PLC, Wm Morrisons Supermarkets and North Essex NHS Partnership Trust, Barking & Dagenham College focuses on creating work-ready students.
Specialist off-campus training centres include the Motor Vehicle & Motorsport Training Centre, The Broadway Theatre (School for Performing Arts and Technical Theatre), Barking Learning Centre and The Technical Skills Academy (TSA) in Barking.
